Color UI is a new simple and good looking theme project includes support for Xfwm4, Unity, Cinnamon, GTK3, GTK2, Metaciy, Mutter, Openbox.

Color UI was made with maximum usability in mind, from the window borders to the color scheme, Color UI was made for the user who wants an elegant simple theme that does not look broken. If any part of Color UI has any problems in any of the things I listed as this theme supporting, please notify me in the comments and I will try to fix it ASAP! Feedback is always appreciated, if it was not for feedback how else would Color UI improve.

Wanna try this theme? Do the steps below:

1. Download the theme from right pane of the project page.

2. Unpack the theme package, copy & paste Color UI folder to /usr/share/themes. You may do the copy and paste thing by running below command in terminal:

cd ~/Downloads/Color-UI-* && sudo cp -r Color-UI /usr/share/themes

3. Change the theme folder permission:

sudo chmod -R 755 /usr/share/themes/Color-UI

4. For XFCE, apply the theme at Settings Manager -> Appearance -> Style, and Icons tab. Also change the window border by going to Settings Manager -> Window Manager -> Style.

Elementary OS theme in OS X Yosemite Style

For Elementary OS users now there’s an OS X Yosemite like GTK theme for the 0.2 Luna desktop.

Some guys have created a new project called yellowstone, which is an OS X Yosemite like ElementaryOS Luna theme based on the excellent Elementary default theme.

To install the theme:

1. Downloads Yellowstone theme at the link below:

Yellowstone master.zip

2. Open file browser and press Ctrl+H on keyboard to view hidden file folders. Create a new folder called .themes folder if not exist.

3. Open the downloaded package via Archive Manager and select extract to the .themes folder.

To apply the theme:

1. Install Elementary Tweaks by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal and then running below commands one by one:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:versable/elementary-update

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install elementary-tweaks

2. Go to System Settings -> Tweaks, select Yellowstone theme from the drop-down list:

This tutorial shows you how to install the beautiful Malys-Deda GTK Theme in Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04 and Linux Mint.

The installation is very easy, just download the theme and put the extracted folder to themes folder and finally you can apply it via gnome tweak tool or unity tweak tool. Follow the steps below to get started:

1.) Open Ubuntu Software Center, search for and install gtk3-engines-unico or gtk2-engine-pixbuf

2.) Clike to download Malys-Deda GTK Theme

3.) Extract the download package. Copy the result folders (malys-deda & malys-dedaGS) and paste to:

  • user Home -> .themes # For local user only, press Ctrl+H to see hidden folders. Create .themes folder if not exist.
  • /usr/share/themes # For global. You need to press Alt+F2 and type to run gksudo nautilus to open file manager with root privilege.

4.) Open Unity Tweak Tool or Gnome Tweak Tool, go to Themes and choose Malys-Deda.
