1.) Boot from the USB installer:<\/h3>\n
After created the bootable USB installer via the previous link tutorial, plug it into your machine and boot or reboot.<\/p>\n
Depends on your machine, you may press ESC, DEL, F2, or F12 to get into BIOS and set booting with USB drive.<\/p>\n
Once it boots successfully, you’ll see the menu look like this screenshot:<\/p>\n
Just select boot with the first or second menu entry!<\/p>\n a.)<\/b> Once it boots into the live Ubuntu desktop, it should open the “Install Wizard” by default. If not, click the “Install Ubuntu” desktop icon to start it.<\/p>\n Choose the language for the wizard and then click the “Install Ubuntu<\/b>” button.<\/p>\n b.)<\/b> Next setup your keyboard layout. And the default one is usually OK with normal keyboards! You may also click ‘Detect Keyboard Layout’ button and follow the pop-up dialog to enable auto-select.<\/p>\n c.)<\/b> And usually choose “Normal installation” in next page, and un-tick “Download updates while installing Ubuntu” which may speeds up the installation process a bit. And you can install updates manually afterwards.<\/p>\n When to select “Installation type”, I’d recommend to choose “Something else”<\/b> unless you’re going to use the whole hard disk for Ubuntu system only. Or choose ‘install alongside …’ if a system exist and you’d to install Ubuntu on all left space.<\/p>\n If you chose “Something Else” in previous step, you’ll get into the partition table. To install Ubuntu, you need following partitions:<\/p>\n a.)<\/b> For GPT hard disk table, you HAVE to create either BIOS-Boot<\/b> or EFI<\/b> partition.<\/p>\n Click on the free space, then click “+”. In pop-up window, choose:<\/p>\n b.)<\/b> Create Ext4 partition for Ubuntu file system.<\/p>\n Remove partitions you don’t use any more to free up disk space and create an EXT4<\/b> partition with mount point \/<\/b>. 8 GB<\/b> size is required for system files. However, 50 GB<\/b> I think will be good for long time using.<\/p>\n c.)<\/b> Create Swap partition:<\/p>\n Swap is required for the hibernate function. If you don’t use this feature, it’s OK to skip this step!<\/p>\n And set its size to as much as of RAM.<\/p>\n d.)<\/b> When done, the partition table will look like:<\/p>\n Finally click “Install Now<\/b>“. It will pop up a window says either EFI or BIOS boot not found. Just click continue if you have one, or yours disk is not GPT.<\/p>\n And confirm in next pop-up:<\/p>\n Next select you location by clicking on the map:<\/p>\n And create account, computer name, etc:<\/p>\n Then just wait until the installing process done:<\/p>\n When it complete, either continue testing the live system or restart.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/ubuntu2104-bootmenu-600x333.jpg\")
