Then, run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install gnucash<\/pre>\n<p><i>Run <code>sudo apt update<\/code> if package not found, and type user password (no asterisk feedback) for sudo authentication.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-44447\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy-600x407.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy-600x407.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy-300x203.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy-768x521.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/apt-gnucash-jammy.webp 786w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Method 2: Install latest GnuCash via Flatpak package<\/h3>\n<p>For the latest version, so far GnuCash 5.14, the official website refers to the <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/org.gnucash.GnuCash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatpak package<\/a>. <b>It can be installed in most Linux, though runs in sandbox!<\/b> And, it supports both X86_64 and Arm 64 CPU architecture types.<\/p>\n<p>1.) Then install the latest GnuCash as Flatpak package, by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/org.gnucash.GnuCash.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<p>NOTE: First time installing a Flatpak app, may also install hundreds MB of runtime libraries. The classic <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~gnucash\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ppa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GNUCash packaging team PPA<\/a> has been revived with Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, and Ubuntu 25.04 support on X86_64 and ARM64 platforms.<\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: The PPA now is NOT affiliated with Ubuntu or Gnucash developer team! Meaning community maintained and unofficial!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. First, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. When terminal opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnucash\/ppa<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) when it asks and hit Enter to continue<\/i><\/p>\n<p>NOTE for Ubuntu 20.04, the PPA also contains updated <code>libgwenhywfar<\/code> library that&#8217;s required by Gnucash 5.10+. It however may conflict with other app packages depend on the stock version of <code>libgwenhywfar<\/code> library from system repository.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gnucash-ppa.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49204\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gnucash-ppa-700x329.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gnucash-ppa-700x329.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gnucash-ppa-300x141.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gnucash-ppa.webp 706w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. If you&#8217;re following this tutorial in Linux Mint 21\/22, then you have to manually refresh system package cache after adding PPA, which&#8217;s done automatically in Ubuntu.<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>3.
