The applet works in Ubuntu and its derivatives, such as Linux Mint and Elementary OS Luna.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/brightness-control.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/brightness-control.jpg\" alt=\"brightness control indicator\" width=\"469\" height=\"288\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/brightness-control.jpg 469w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/brightness-control-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s useful for me because the Fn+Arrow key in my laptop only change the brightness in 4 levels (zero, one third, two-thirds, full).<\/p>\n<p><b>Features:<\/b><\/p>\n<li>Clicking the icon shows you all the possible brightness values, to a maximum of 15 steps.<\/li>\n<li>The current value is indicated with a dot.<\/li>\n<li>Clicking a menu item sets the brightness to the desired value.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll wheel event is enabled on the icon. Scrolling up means higher brightness, scrolling down lower.<\/li>\n<li>Control screen brightness with custom keyboard shortcuts.<\/li>\n<h3>Install Brightness Indicator:<\/h3>\n<p>Press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run below commands one by one to install the indicator from PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:indicator-brightness\/ppa\n\nsudo apt-get update\n\nsudo apt-get install indicator-brightness<\/pre>\n<p>Or you can download the .deb package and double-click to install it from <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~indicator-brightness\/+archive\/ppa\/+packages\" target=\"_blank\">Launchpad.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once installed, open it from the app menu. Add these commands to your custom keyboard shortcuts to control brightness with your keyboard.
