Here&#8217;s a way to save your brightness by adding a startup script which will automatically adjust screen brightness when Ubuntu boots up.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tutorial Objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Save your screen brightness in Ubuntu 13.10<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To get started, press <u>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/u> on your keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run commands below:<\/p>\n<pre>cat \/sys\/class\/backlight\/acpi_video0\/max_brightness<\/pre>\n<p>It outputs the maximum level of your laptop backlight. Mine is <b>9<\/b>. The minimum is <b>0<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Run command below to edit the <code>\/etc\/rc.local<\/code> file, which is a script executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.<\/p>\n<pre>sudo gedit \/etc\/rc.local<\/pre>\n<p>Add following before the last line.
