Linux Kernel 3.10.25 is a big released which brings several x86 improvements, numerous updated drivers (Radeon, i915, hwmon, ALSA, wireless, USB), various fixes (KVM, PowerPC, ARM, Btrfs), as well as other changes. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kernel.org\/pub\/linux\/kernel\/v3.x\/ChangeLog-3.10.25\" title=\"Linux Kernel 3.10.25 ChangeLog\" target=\"_blank\">the changelog<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>All users of 3.10 Kernel series are urged to upgrade as soon as possible, here&#8217;s how to do it in Ubuntu, Linux Mint and their derivatives.<\/p>\n<h3>Install \/ Upgrade Kernel 3.10.25:<\/h3>\n<p>The DEBs are available in <a href=\"http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu Kernel page<\/a>. Follow the steps below to download &#038; install them if you&#8217;re on familiar with command line:<\/p>\n<p>1. Download the DEB:<\/p>\n<p>For 32 bit system:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">cd ~\/Downloads\/ && wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.25-031025-generic_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_i386.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.25-031025_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.25-031025-generic_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_i386.deb<\/pre>\n<p>For 64 bit system:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">cd ~\/Downloads\/ && wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.25-031025-generic_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_amd64.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.25-031025_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.25-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.25-031025-generic_3.10.25-031025.201312201135_amd64.deb<\/pre>\n<p>2. Install the DEBs:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">cd ~\/Downloads\/ && sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.10.25-*.deb linux-image-3.10.25-*.deb<\/pre>\n<p>Restart your computer and done.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using proprietary video driver, you may need to re-build or re-install to get it work with new kernel.<\/p>\n<p>If for some reason this kernel release doesn\u2019t work properly for you, reboot into previous kernel (Grub -> Advanced -> select previous kernel) and run commands to remove Linux Kernel 3.10.25:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-3.10.25-* linux-image-3.10.25-*<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Linux Kernel 3.10 (Long Term Support) now is at 25th maintenance release.
