This simple tutorial is going to show you how to install Jolla\u2019s Sailfish OS SDK<\/b> on Ubuntu and other Linux Distributions. <\/p>\n

Jolla has announced a graphical installer for Windows, Linux and Mac OS. It’s easy to install it on Linux systems, all you need to do is download the installer and start it in terminal.<\/p>\n

Common pre-requisites:<\/h3>\n

1. Make sure you have Oracle VirtualBox 4.1.18+ installed. Ubuntu 13.04 and higher can installed it from Ubuntu Software Center. For Ubuntu 12.04, please download the latest version from virtualbox.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. About 5GB of free disk space is required.<\/p>\n

3. 4GB of RAM or more is recommended.<\/p>\n

Download & Install:<\/h3>\n

1. Download the SDK for Linux from Sailfish OS official site<\/a>. <\/p>\n

If you don’t know which OS type you’re on. Press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal, and run command below:<\/p>\n

getconf LONG_BIT<\/pre>\n
2. Once downloaded, you have to give executable permission to the .run file by:<\/p>\n
chmod +x ~\/Downloads\/SailfishOSSDK-*-offline.run<\/pre>\n
3. Start the installer by:<\/p>\n
.\/Downloads\/SailfishOSSDK-*-offline.run<\/pre>\n
In step 2 & 3 you may change the installer name to yours.<\/p>\n
4. Follow the install wizard.<\/p>\n
