This is a small release which brings improvements to ARM and x86 architectures, updated i915 driver as well as other fixes. See <a href=\"https:\/\/lkml.org\/lkml\/2014\/1\/25\/106\" title=\"Linux Kernel 3.10.28 LTS Release Note\" target=\"_blank\">the announcement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade. Here&#8217;s how to do it in Ubuntu, Linux Mint and their derivatives.<\/p>\n<p>1. Download the .deb packages for this kernel from <a href=\"http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu Kernel Page<\/a>, or via below commands in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):<\/p>\n<p>For 32-bit:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.28-031028-generic_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_i386.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.28-031028_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.28-031028-generic_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_i386.deb<\/pre>\n<p>For 64-bit:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.28-031028-generic_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_amd64.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.28-031028_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.28-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.28-031028-generic_3.10.28-031028.201401251235_amd64.deb<\/pre>\n<p>2. Install these debs:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.10.28-*.deb linux-image-3.10.28-*.deb<\/pre>\n<p>Restart your computer and done.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using a proprietary video driver, you may need to re-build or re-install to get it work with the new kernel.<\/p>\n<p>If for some reason this kernel release doesn\u2019t work properly for you, reboot into previous kernel (Grub -> Advanced -> select previous kernel) and run commands to remove Linux Kernel 3.10.28:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-3.10.28-* linux-image-3.10.28-*<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest Long Term Support Linux Kernel 3.10.28 has been released a few hours ago.
