Greg KH urged all users of this kernel series to upgrade as soon as possible.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kernel 3.10.30 is a small release which mainly brings some updates drivers, including i915, nouveau, radeon, and mcc, as well as some fixes. For details, see <a href=\"https:\/\/lkml.org\/lkml\/2014\/2\/13\/504\" title=\"Linux Kernel 3.10.30 announcement\" target=\"_blank\">the announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Install \/ Upgrade to Kernel 3.10.30:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Ubuntu Kernel Team has build the deb packages which are available in <a href=\"http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/\" title=\"Kernel 3.10.30 DEB download page\" target=\"_blank\">this page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For command line, you can follow the steps below to install them:<\/p>\n<p>1. Press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open the terminal. When it opens, run the commands below one by one to download this kernel:<\/p>\n<p>For 32 bit system:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.30-031030-generic_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_i386.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.30-031030_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.30-031030-generic_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_i386.deb<\/pre>\n<p>For 64 bit system:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">wget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.30-031030-generic_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_amd64.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-headers-3.10.30-031030_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_all.deb\n\nwget http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/~kernel-ppa\/mainline\/v3.10.30-saucy\/linux-image-3.10.30-031030-generic_3.10.30-031030.201402131735_amd64.deb<\/pre>\n<p>2. Then install the packages:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.10.30-*.deb linux-image-3.10.30-*.deb<\/pre>\n<p>After the installation, it automatically updated your grub boot loader. Just restart and boot with new kernel.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re using a proprietary video driver, you may need to re-build or re-install to get it work with the new kernel.<\/p>\n<p>If for some reason this kernel release doesn\u2019t work properly for you, reboot into previous kernel (Grub -> Advanced -> select previous kernel) and run this command in terminal to remove Linux Kernel 3.10.30:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-3.10.30-* linux-image-3.10.30-*<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest Linux Kernel LTS 3.10.30 has been announced today.
