For those who prefer the previous lockscreen used in Ubuntu 13.10 and earlier, here&#8217;s how to switch it back.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The new lockscreen, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/the-cavalry\/light-locker\" title=\"Light Locker on GitHub\" target=\"_blank\">light-locker<\/a>, is forked from gnome-screensaver that aims to have simple, sane, secure defaults and be well integrated with the desktop while not carrying any desktop-specific dependencies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lightdm-locker.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lightdm-locker.jpg\" alt=\"LightDM locker\" width=\"468\" height=\"263\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lightdm-locker.jpg 468w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lightdm-locker-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to try this lockscreen in Ubuntu 13.10 or Ubuntu 13.04, see <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2013\/08\/install-light-locker-via-ppa-in-ubuntu-13-10-13-04\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>To restore previous Lockscreen in Ubuntu 14.04:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><b>UPDATE<\/b>: The option has been removed in Ubuntu 14.04 final release. So this tutorial won&#8217;t work anymore.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Search for and install <i>Compizconfig-Settings-Manager<\/i> in Ubuntu Software Center. Or press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open the terminal, and run the command below instead:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager<\/pre>\n<p>After that, start CCSM from Unity Dash and navigate to <b>Ubuntu Unity Plugin -> General -> Lockscreen<\/b>.
