Release highlights in the new release inlcude:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HEIF support improvements: optional exporting with high bit depth, AVIF importing and exporting<\/li>\n<li>Multiple improvements in Corel PaintShop Pro support<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Sample merged&#8221; now available in GEGL operation tool options<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Sample merged&#8221; is now enabled by default for color picking<\/li>\n<li>The option enabling OpenCL support has been moved to the Playground tab in Preferences<\/li>\n<li>Matting Levin is now the default engine of Foreground Select tool as it performs a lot better<\/li>\n<li>New progressive performance logs and dashboard updates<\/li>\n<li>Verbose debug now shows Flatpak info when relevant<\/li>\n<li>Various bug fixes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/gimp21022.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"368\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/gimp21022.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/gimp21022-450x276.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>How to Install GIMP 2.10.22 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>The GIMP flatpak is <b>recommended<\/b> for Linux, and you can <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/details\/org.gimp.GIMP\" target=\"_blank\">get it in flathub repository<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those prefer installing deb package via apt, the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/gimp\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a> contains the packages for Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 20.04.<\/p>\n<p><i>There&#8217;s known issue of the PPA packages: translations won&#8217;t install, so GIMP will always work in English.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>1.)<\/b> Open <u>terminal<\/u> from system application launcher.
