Giara is a modern new GTK app for Reddit written in Python 3 with GTK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/giara.gabmus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giara<\/a> is a free open-source software created with mobile Linux in mind. It comes with most Reddit features including new text, link, media posts, search subreddits and users, up vote, down vote, post rely, dark mode support, and more.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/giara-main.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"449\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-32902\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/giara-dark.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"447\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32903\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>How to Install Giara in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p><b>It is recommended to install the software using flatpak package<\/b>, see <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/details\/org.gabmus.giara\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giara in flathub.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those prefer native <b>DEB<\/b> package, I&#8217;ve uploaded the packages into the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/giara\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 20.10.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:None;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/giara<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/giara-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"126\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-32904\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/giara-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/giara-ppa-450x95.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then refresh package cache and install the app:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt update\r\n\r\nsudo apt install giara<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/apt-giara.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"249\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-32905\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/apt-giara.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/apt-giara-450x187.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note for Ubuntu 20.04, the app window border and top-bar buttons are not looking good due to old system libraries (<i>upstream issue<\/i>).<\/p>\n<h4>Uninstall:<\/h4>\n<p>To remove the PPA, either go to <i>Software &#038; Updates -> Other Software<\/i> tab or run command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:None;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/giara<\/pre>\n<p>And remove the Reddit app if you want by running command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt remove --autoremove giara<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looking for a Reddit client for Linux desktop?
