It features a simple responsive user interface based on Purism\u2019s libhandy library. Feeds can be added via URL address and support importing and exporting large feed collection from and to OPML.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33190\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gnome-feeds-deb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gnome-feeds-deb.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gnome-feeds-deb-450x255.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The software has been made into main repositories since Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy. For request, I&#8217;ve uploaded the latest packages into the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/gfeeds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for Ubuntu 20.04, Linux Mint 20, and Ubuntu 20.10, with Ubuntu 18.04 excluded as libhandy requires at least GTK 3.24.<\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE:<\/b> It&#8217;s recommended to install the official <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/details\/org.gabmus.gfeeds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatpak package<\/a>, while the PPA offers unofficial .deb binary package for choice.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.)<\/b> Open <i>terminal<\/i> from your system application launcher, then run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gfeeds<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) for sudo prompts and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33191\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gfeeds-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gfeeds-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gfeeds-ppa-450x173.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.)<\/b> While adding PPA will automatically refresh the system package cache, you can then install the feed reader via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo apt install gnome-feeds<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33192\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-gnomefeeds.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-gnomefeeds.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-gnomefeeds-450x208.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once installed, launch it from system application launcher and enjoy!<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall Gnome Feeds:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove the feed reader, simply run command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo apt remove --autoremove gnome-feeds<\/pre>\n<p>And remove the PPA either using <b>Software &amp; Updates<\/b> utility under <i>Other Software<\/i> tab, or run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gfeeds<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gnome Feeds, a free and open-source news reader with a neat user interface, now is available to install via Ubuntu PPA for those prefer the classic apt method.
