It meets all the dependencies to build the requested feature. So I added it back. Hope it&#8217;s not too late for you :). And the package was totally built via the rules from <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~otto-kesselgulasch\/+archive\/ubuntu\/gimp\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">otto-kesselgulasch&#8217;s PPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/gimp-21022-python.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"342\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33261\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Install GIMP 2.10.22 via PPA in Ubuntu 18.04:<\/h3>\n<p><i>NOTE I do only basic image editing with GIMP, and I can&#8217;t go further test for the function though it seems working.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>1.)<\/b> Open <u>terminal<\/u> from system application launcher. When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gimp<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) for sudo prompts and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"96\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal.png 560w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal-450x77.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.)<\/b> If an old version of GIMP <code>.deb<\/code> package was installed, upgrade it via <i>Software Updater<\/i> (need to install <code style=\"border:none; color:#000000;\">gimp-python<\/code> manually) utility.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/upgrade-gimp.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"322\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10536\" \/><\/p>\n<p>or run apt commands in terminal to install GIMP:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt update\r\n\r\nsudo apt install gimp gimp-gmic gimp-python<\/pre>\n<p><b>If an old version was installed, it&#8217;s recommended to run <code>sudo apt upgrade<\/code> which will also update the required babl, gegl libraries.<\/b><\/p>\n<h4>How to Restore:<\/h4>\n<p>To restore GIMP to the stock version in main Ubuntu repository, run command to purge the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gimp<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For Ubuntu 18.04 users sticking to the PPA build of GIMP image editor 2.10.22, now the Python Script support is back.
