Here&#8217;s PPA with the deb binary packages for Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Linux Mint 20, and derivatives.<\/p>\n<p>Following the lead of Debian and Fedora, the new release now features <b>dual Qt5 + GTK2 build<\/b> by default. And it offers an option in the Settings to make it easy to switch between Qt and classic GTK interfaces.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/audacious-qt-gtk.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"386\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Audacious has been updated to version 4.2, feature new dark mode support and Flat icon set in both light and dark mode.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add partial support for Ogg FLAC streams<\/li>\n<li>Automatically set the title of an imported playlist based on the filename<\/li>\n<li>Preselect the filename of an imported playlist when exporting it again<\/li>\n<li>Add a Jump to Song dialog to the Winamp interface in Qt mode<\/li>\n<li>Add formatter syntax to allow truncating title strings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Install Audacious 4.2 via PPA in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p>The new release package has been made into the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/apps\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu PPA<\/a>. Due to a compile issue and lack of time for debugging, Ubuntu 16.04 build is excluded.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal by either pressing <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard or searching for &#8216;terminal&#8217; from application menu. When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type your password (no asterisk feedback) when it prompts and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/hugin-unofficial-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"135\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33087\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/hugin-unofficial-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/hugin-unofficial-ppa-450x101.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then run commands one by one in terminal to install or upgrade the audio player:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt update\r\n\r\nsudo apt install audacious audacious-plugins<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/apt-audacious-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"243\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33343\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NOTE: If you got problem installing \/ updating the audio player, remove the old packages first by running the command in the bottom.<\/p>\n<h4>Uninstall:<\/h4>\n<p>You can easily remove the PPA either by going to <b>Software &#038; Updates<\/b> utility -> <b>Other Software<\/b> tab, or by running command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>To remove audacious, either use your system package manager or run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt remove --autoremove audacious audacious-plugins audacious-dev<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Audacious audio player 4.2 was released a few days ago.
