Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu via PPA.<\/p>\n<p>The new release features many new video filters. A <b>dedicated MOV muxer<\/b> is available to replace MOV muxing mode within the MP4 muxer; A subset of color info relevant for <i>HDR support<\/i> is retained in copy mode when both input and output video are stored in Matroska \/ WebM containers.<\/p>\n<p>The indexer in the <i>MPEG-TS demuxer<\/i> now detects resolution changes in MPEG-2 and H.264 streams.<\/p>\n<p><b>YUV<\/b> varieties of the lossless Ut Video codec are supported via bundled FFmpeg library. <b>Multi-threaded video decoding<\/b> is now available for the bundled FFmpeg.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uncompressed 24-bit audio support.<\/li>\n<li>Limited support for 7.1 channel layout.<\/li>\n<li>Decode and stream copy support for XLL substream in DTS audio tracks.<\/li>\n<li>Audio properties updated on resuming playback.<\/li>\n<li>An option to keep the identity of markers A and B instead of swapping them automatically<\/li>\n<li>Maximum resolution support increased to 8192&#215;8192<\/li>\n<li>FFmpeg bundle updated to 4.2.4<\/li>\n<li>MP4 muxer accepts now MPEG-1 and MPEG-2<\/li>\n<li>Extended Python interface, and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/avidemux278.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"431\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33450\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>How to Install Avidemux 2.7.8 in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p>The editor offers official non-install <code>.appimage<\/code> package, which is available to download at the link below<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href='https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/avidemux\/files\/avidemux\/' class='arconix-button-flat arconix-button-large arconix-button-tan' target=\"_blank\" >Download Avidemux<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Grab the appimage, go to file <i>Properties -> Permissions<\/i> and make it executable, finally right-click and run the file to launch the Avidemux video editor.<\/p>\n<p>For those prefer the classic apt method, I&#8217;ve uploaded the .deb packages into the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/avidemux\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a>, available for Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 20.10.<\/p>\n<p>1.)
