You can change the icon color and add emblem via Nautilus extension.<\/p>\n<p>Nautilus, the default file manager in Ubuntu, has an extension called Folder Color. It allows to change the color of selected folder or folders into: <b>Blue<\/b>, <b>Blown<\/b>, <b>Green<\/b>, <b>Gray<\/b>, <b>Pink<\/b>, <b>Purple<\/b>, <b>Red<\/b> and <b>Yellow<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also add a emblem, e.g., Important, In Process, Favorite, Finished, and New. However, it&#8217;s not well working with the default Yaru theme.<\/p>\n<p><b>For Ubuntu 20.04<\/b>, So you have to first add the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~costales\/+archive\/ubuntu\/yaru-colors-folder-color\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developer&#8217;s PPA<\/a> with Yaru integration. To do so, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: None;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costales\/yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) when it asks and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>For Ubuntu 22.04<\/b>, add another PPA instead:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pakaoraki\/yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33699\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/yaru-foldercolor-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/yaru-foldercolor-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/yaru-foldercolor-ppa-300x114.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then install Folder Color, as well as Yaru integration via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: None;\">sudo apt install folde-color yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33700\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/apt-yaru-colors.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/apt-yaru-colors.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/apt-yaru-colors-300x99.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To apply change, run command to <b>restart Nautilus<\/b> file manager:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: None;\">nautilus -q<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, open file manager, right-click on a folder and enjoy the new icon colors:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/yaru-folder-color.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33701\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/folder-color-hirsute.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"328\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove the Ubuntu PPA, open terminal and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:pakaoraki\/yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<pre style=\"border: None;\">sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:costales\/yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<p>And, to remove the folder color extension, run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove folde-color yaru-colors-folder-color<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, run <code>nautilus -q<\/code> to apply change.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Want to make a certain folder different to others in Ubuntu?
