The tool now is ported to Qt6 and easy to install in Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, and Ubuntu 24.04 via PPA.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For those never heard about Dukto, it&#8217;s a free open-source file transfer tool for LAN (Local Network) use. Though it&#8217;s not being developed for years, the tool still works well and available to download at:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/dukto\/files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Dukto<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>However, the deb package does not install in Ubuntu since it requires old Qt4 libraries!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to community, the Qt5\/Qt6 port is available and can be installed from the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~xuzhen666\/+archive\/ubuntu\/dukto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developer&#8217;s PPA<\/a>. So far, it supports Ubuntu 18.04 (stuck at v6.0), Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, and Ubuntu 24.04.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Dukto 6 via Ubuntu PPA:<\/h3>\n<p>Firstly, search for and open terminal from system app launcher. When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xuzhen666\/dukto<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password, no asterisk feedback, when it asks and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dukto6-ppa.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-34167\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dukto6-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dukto6-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dukto6-ppa-300x104.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, update package cache though it&#8217;s done automatically in Ubuntu 20.04 &amp; higher:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install the Qt5 version of Dukto via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install dukto<\/pre>\n<p>Once installed, open the tool from system app launcher. It will automatic find other machines that have the tool opens.<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall Dukto:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove Dukto, simply open terminal and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove dukto<\/pre>\n<p>And remove the Ubuntu PPA via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:xuzhen666\/dukto<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Missing the classic Dukto file transfer tool?
