Though it has limitations that some filters (e.g., Detelecine, Chroma Smooth, and <a href=\"https:\/\/handbrake.fr\/docs\/en\/latest\/technical\/video-bit-depth.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more<\/a>) do not currently support higher than 8-bit. With these filters enabled, you won&#8217;t benefit from the new feature.<\/p>\n<p>You can select the new 10-bit \/ 12-bit encoder from the \u201cVideo codec\u201d drop-down on the Video tab. New <i>Media Foundation<\/i> encoder for Windows based ARM64 devices powered by Qualcomm Chipsets.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/HandBrake\/HandBrake\/releases\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HandBrake 1.4.0<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HDR10 metadata passthru.<\/li>\n<li>Added support for Apple Silicon based macs.<\/li>\n<li>MP2 Audio Passthru support.<\/li>\n<li>Added support for DVB Subtitles.<\/li>\n<li>Added support for EIA608 Closed Captions.<\/li>\n<li>Improved Static Previews to reduce temporary disk space usage<\/li>\n<li>And much more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Install HandBrake 1.4.0 in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p>HandBrake has an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~stebbins\/+archive\/ubuntu\/handbrake-releases\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official Ubuntu PPA<\/a> though it&#8217;s not updated at the moment. <\/p>\n<p>Besides the PPA, you can download &#038; install the flatpak package.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/handbrake.fr\/downloads.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download HandBrake Linux Flatpak<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>First time installing a flatpak package?
