It&#8217;s easy to do the job with built-in screen sharing function.<\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu uses Vino as default VNC server to share your existing desktop. With it, users can access Ubuntu remotely either in or out of local network via a VNC client.<\/p>\n<h3>Enable Vino VNC in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p>1. Firstly, click on &#8216;Activities&#8217; in top bar, search for and open terminal from system app launcher. When it opens, run commands:<\/p>\n<p>Make sure Vino is installed by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install vino<\/pre>\n<p>To allow computer outside of local network to access, enable upnp is your router support it:<\/p>\n<pre>gsettings set org.gnome.Vino use-upnp true<\/pre>\n<p>Vino requires encryption by default. However, VNC clients from Windows computer does not support the encryption type. So you may disable the feature via command:<\/p>\n<pre>gsettings set org.gnome.Vino require-encryption false<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/vino-settings.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/vino-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"201\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-34196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/vino-settings.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/vino-settings-300x101.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are more settings, e.g., change listening port, disable background, lock on disconnect. Secondly, open System Settings and go to Sharing in the left pane. And I use TigerVNC which is available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/tigervnc\/files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download TigerVNC<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Download &#038; install the exe.
