I use the app regularly to add annotations (e.g., arrow, rectangle, border and drop shadow) to my images. And, it&#8217;s working good in Ubuntu on both Wayland and Xorg session.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-35412\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor-600x346.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor-600x346.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor-768x443.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-editor.jpg 924w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The software is available in Ubuntu universe repositories though it&#8217;s always old. The developer team maintains the latest packages via Linux universal <b>Snap<\/b> (available in Ubuntu Software) and <b>Flatpak<\/b> that run in sandbox.<\/p>\n<p>Native <b>DEB<\/b> package is also available to download at <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ksnip\/ksnip\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">github releases page<\/a>. However, the latest version (v1.9.1 so far) does not work on Ubuntu 20.04 due to outdated QT5 library. It will work on Ubuntu 21.10, though users need to manually install the missing &#8220;<code>libqt5x11extras5<\/code>&#8221; package.<\/p>\n<p>To add Ubuntu 20.04 support, I uploaded the software package into this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ksnip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> along with packages for Ubuntu 21.04 and Ubuntu 21.10. Though there&#8217;s already an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~nemonein\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ksnip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu PPA<\/a> so far contains only Ubuntu 20.04 package.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Ksnip for Ubuntu PPA:<\/h3>\n<p>Firstly, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open a terminal window. When it opens, run the commands below one by one.<\/p>\n<h4>1. Add Ubuntu PPA.<\/h4>\n<p>Copy and paste the command below into terminal and hit Enter.<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/ksnip<\/pre>\n<p>It will ask for password authentication without visual feedback. After typing user password and hitting Enter, it adds the PPA into system and updates the package cache automatically.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-ppa.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35413\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-ppa.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-ppa.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ksnip-ppa-300x130.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>2.
