It is well integrated with Ubuntu Unity except that it does not use the native libnotify daemon so that you won&#8217;t see any notification bubble that indicates what&#8217;s playing. To enable this feature, follow below steps.<\/p>\n<p>1. Open VLC media player, go to menu <b>Tools -> Preferences<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/vlc-preferences.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/vlc-preferences.png\" alt=\"open VLC preferences \" width=\"600\" height=\"291\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/vlc-preferences.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/vlc-preferences-300x145.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2.
