So the package will always be old, though <i>Ubuntu 21.10 has v2.0.12<\/i>, most recent release at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>The good side is that user may install the package on <i><b>64-bit<\/b><\/i> modern PC, old <i><b>32-bit<\/b><\/i> PC on Ubuntu 18.04, and\/or <i><b>arm64\/armhf<\/b><\/i> devices (e.g., Apple silicon and Raspberry Pi).<\/p>\n<p>To install the package, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. You can always get the latest version from the link button below, though it&#8217;s only provides packages for modern 64-bit and old 32-bit PC.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/lazarus\/files\/Lazarus%20Linux%20amd64%20DEB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lazarus 64-bit DEB<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/lazarus\/files\/Lazarus%20Linux%20i386%20DEB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lazarus 32-bit DEB<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The official deb packages are made up of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>fpc-laz<\/b> &#8211; the Compiler, some command line tools, base units and non visual components like database access<\/li>\n<li><b>fpc-src<\/b> &#8211; the sources of fpc and its packages, needed for code browsing<\/li>\n<li><b>lazarus-project<\/b> &#8211; the IDE, visual components and help files<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grab all the 3 packages. Then, open file manager and go to &#8216;<i>Downloads<\/i>&#8216; folder, right-click and choose &#8216;<b>Open in Terminal<\/b>&#8216; to open terminal with that folder as working directory. Finally, run command to install them:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install .\/fpc*.deb .\/lazarus-project*.deb<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-35921\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb-600x396.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb-600x396.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb-300x198.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb-768x507.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/install-lazarus-deb.webp 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: the official package conflicts with the one in Ubuntu own repository.
