Since HPLIP package in these Linux Distros&#8217; own repositories is always old, users may now easily install the latest version via the official script by HP.<\/p>\n<p>And, nothing else in the release except for the new systems support.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/hplip32112-about.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/hplip32112-about-600x493.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"493\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/hplip32112-about-600x493.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/hplip32112-about-300x246.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/hplip32112-about.webp 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Download &#038; Install HPLIP 3.21.12<\/h3>\n<p>To get the software package, download the &#8220;hplip-x.xx.x.run&#8221; file from the link page below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/hplip\/files\/hplip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download HPLIP<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Next, search for and open a terminal window from start menu. And, run command to grant executable permission, and run the installer script to install it:<\/p>\n<pre>cd ~\/Downloads && chmod +x hplip-*.run && .\/hplip-*.run<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/install-hplip32112.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/install-hplip32112.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"252\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/install-hplip32112.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/install-hplip32112-300x126.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just follow the terminal output and answer questions. It will build and install the software automatically.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tip 1:<\/b> For those still using Python 2 and getting into python-pyqt5 dependency issue, see <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2021\/07\/install-latest-hplip-ubuntu-20-04-fix\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this workaround<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tip 2:<\/b> For unsupported Linux systems, you may manually install dependencies and built from the tarball. For Ubuntu based systems, there&#8217;s a tutorial teaches <a href=\"https:\/\/fostips.com\/install-hplip-zorin-os-elementary-os\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">how to compile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Remove HPLIP:<\/h3>\n<p>Running the &#8220;hplip-x.xx.x.run&#8221; installer will generate a source folder in user Downloads directory. If you don&#8217;t see it, re-run it via command:<\/p>\n<pre>~\/Downloads\/hplip*.run --target ~\/Downloads\/hplip<\/pre>\n<p>Then in file manager, go to &#8220;Downloads&#8221;. <b>Right-click on &#8216;hplip&#8217; folder and select &#8216;Open in Terminal&#8217;, finally run the uninstall script in pop-up terminal window:<\/b><\/p>\n<pre>sudo python3 uninstall.py<\/pre>\n<p>That&#8217;s all.
