Along with .NET6 the UI now looks more native in Ubuntu:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The tab bar looks more native in GNOME.<\/li>\n<li>Use the standard GTK font chooser (pop up dialog) instead of drop-down selection for Text tool.<\/li>\n<li>Change several tools to use spin buttons rather than editable combo boxes.<\/li>\n<li>The position \/ selection information, zoom, and the color palette now moved to bottom status bar.<\/li>\n<li>The tool palette displays in a single column with &#8220;<b>><\/b>&#8221; button in the bottom to reach more tools.<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;Open Recent menu&#8221; is gone. You may choose one to install or install all of them side by side (<i>will cause duplicated app icons<\/i>).<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Snap<\/h4>\n<p>The Pinta snap package is available to install from Ubuntu Software. And, if you already install the package before, it should now update to v2.0 automatically.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore-600x345.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"345\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36613\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore-600x345.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore-300x172.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore-768x441.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/pinta2-snapstore.webp 970w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Option 2: Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>Like Snap, Flatpak is another universal package format runs in sandbox. It installs updates automatically but takes more disk space. <\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu user may install <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/details\/com.github.PintaProject.Pinta\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pinta as Flatpak<\/a> by running the commands below one by one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install Flatpak daemon:\n<pre>sudo apt install flatpak<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install Pinta from flathub repository:\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/com.github.PintaProject.Pinta.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Option 3: Classic Deb package:<\/h4>\n<p>For those prefer the native deb packages, Pinta has a <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~pinta-maintainers\/+archive\/ubuntu\/pinta-stable\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stable PPA<\/a> though NOT updated at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>User may press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal, and run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pinta-maintainers\/pinta-stable<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pinta-ppa-focal.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pinta-ppa-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"92\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pinta-ppa-focal.png 560w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pinta-ppa-focal-450x74.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the PPA is updated, Pinta 2.0 will be available to upgrade along with other system packages in Software Updater.<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall Pinta:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove Pinta Snap and Deb packages, use Ubuntu Software or run one of the commands below:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo snap remove --purge pinta<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove pinta<\/pre>\n<p>And remove the PPA using &#8220;Software &#038; Updates&#8221; tool under &#8220;Other Software&#8221; tab.<\/p>\n<p>For the Flatpak package, use command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall --delete-data com.github.PintaProject.Pinta<\/pre>\n<p>And clear useless run-time libraries via <code>flatpak uninstall --unused<\/code>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Paint.NET inspired bitmap image drawing and editing software Pinta 2.0 was released a few days ago.
