And, it can be controlled via Rhythmbox, VLC, Audacious and other MPRIS2 compatible players. For Skype users, it can automatically record all your Skype calls without any user interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds can be saved as OGG audio, Flac, MP3, WAV, M4A, and OPUS. It does NOT work in Ubuntu 24.10 and later.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Install Audio Recorder in Ubuntu 22.04 | 24.04:<\/h3>\n<p><b>The PPA also contains old version packages for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, and Ubuntu 20.04<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The app has been more than 10 years old! The developer team maintains an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~audio-recorder\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ppa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official PPA<\/a> with all Ubuntu releases and their derivatives (e.g., Linux Mint) support. Somehow, it does not available in Ubuntu&#8217;s universe repository.<\/p>\n<h4>1. Add the PPA<\/h4>\n<p>First press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, paste the command below and hit Enter:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:audio-recorder\/ppa<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) for sudo authentication and hit enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/audio-recorder-ppa.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-38515\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/audio-recorder-ppa-600x217.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/audio-recorder-ppa-600x217.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/audio-recorder-ppa-300x109.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/audio-recorder-ppa.webp 759w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: For Ubuntu 24.04 and 23.10, the run command below to add <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/audio-recorder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this PPA<\/a> instead.<\/b><\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audio-recorder<\/pre>\n<h4>2. Install Audio Recorder package<\/h4>\n<p>After adding the PPA and updating the package cache (which is done automatically), just run the apt command below to install the tool:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install audio-recorder<\/pre>\n<p><i>Some Ubuntu based systems need to run <code>sudo apt update<\/code> to manually refresh package cache after adding PPA.
