See below<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Below I will show you how to use Unity&#8217;s default network manager to create a wireless hotspot with Android devices support, tested in 64-bit Ubuntu 1404 with Nexus 4 and Sumsung Galaxy ace3.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Disable WIFI and plug in an internet cable to your laptop so that your Ubuntu is connect to a wired internet and wireless is disabled.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Go to Network Icon on top panel -> Edit Connections &#8230;, then click the <b>Add<\/b> button in the pop-up window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/edit-network-connections.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/edit-network-connections.jpg\" alt=\"Edit Network Connections\" width=\"500\" height=\"275\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3978\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/edit-network-connections.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/edit-network-connections-300x165.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Choose <b>Wi-Fi<\/b> from the drop-down menu when you&#8217;re asked to choose a connection type:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/choose-wifi-connection-type.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/choose-wifi-connection-type.jpg\" alt=\"Choose Connection Type\" width=\"500\" height=\"129\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3979\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/choose-wifi-connection-type.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/choose-wifi-connection-type-300x77.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>4.<\/b> In next window, do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Type in a connection name. The name will be used later.<\/li>\n<li>Type in a SSID<\/li>\n<li>Select mode: Infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Device MAC address: select your wireless card from drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/create-wifi-hotspot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/create-wifi-hotspot.jpg\" alt=\"create-wifi-hotspot\" width=\"370\" height=\"395\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3980\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/create-wifi-hotspot.jpg 370w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/create-wifi-hotspot-281x300.jpg 281w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>5.<\/b> Go to <b>Wi-Fi Security<\/b> tab, select security type <b>WPA &#038; WPA2 Personal<\/b> and set a password.<\/p>\n<p><b>6.<\/b> Go to <b>IPv4 Settings<\/b> tab, from Method drop-down box select <b>Shared to other computers<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/wifi-ipv4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/wifi-ipv4.jpg\" alt=\"wifi-ipv4\" width=\"370\" height=\"395\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/wifi-ipv4.jpg 370w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/wifi-ipv4-281x300.jpg 281w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When done, click the <b>save<\/b> button.<\/p>\n<p>After above steps, a configuration file created under <i>\/etc\/NetworkManager\/system-connections<\/i> directory. File name is same to the connection name you typed in step 4.<\/p>\n<p>Now press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, paste the commands below and hit enter to edit the configuration file:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">gksu gedit \/etc\/NetworkManager\/system-connections\/<b>wifi-hotspot<\/b><\/pre>\n<p>Replace <b>wifi-hotspt<\/b> with the connection name you typed in step 4.<\/p>\n<p>When the file opens, find out the line <code>mode=infrastructure<\/code>  and change it to <code>mode=ap<\/code>. Finally save the file.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/change-mode.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/change-mode.jpg\" alt=\"Change to AP mode\" width=\"520\" height=\"249\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/change-mode.jpg 520w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/change-mode-300x143.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When everything&#8217;s done, enable WIFI from Network Manager icon on the panel. It should automatically connect to the hotspot you created.
