To remove the Guest session:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open the terminal. When it opens, paste the command below and hit enter:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo gedit \/usr\/share\/lightdm\/lightdm.conf.d\/50-ubuntu.conf<\/pre>\n<p>Type in your user password when it asks. Note that there&#8217;s no visual feed back when typing password.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/remove-guest-session.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4011\" alt=\"Remove Guest session in Unity\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/remove-guest-session.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/remove-guest-session.jpg 560w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/remove-guest-session-300x134.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the picture shows, when the editor opens, add a new line into the end and save the file<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>allow-guest=false<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s it. You won&#8217;t see the Guest next time Ubuntu boots up.<\/p>\n<p><b>2. To Remove white dots:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There is a graphical tool <b><i>dconf-editor<\/i><\/b> which provides options to change the login screen background and remove the white dots (draw grid).<\/p>\n<p>a.) To install dconf-editor, click the link below to bring up Ubuntu Software Center and click the install button:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href='' class='arconix-button arconix-button-large arconix-button-blue'>Click install dconf-editor<\/a><\/p>\n<p>b.) To configure Unity login screen, you need the <b><i>lightdm<\/i><\/b> user privilege to launcher dconf-editor. To do so:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\">Press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> to open terminal. When it opens, run commands to get root privilege:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo -i<\/pre>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\">Type in your user password when it asks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\">Allow user <b>lightdm<\/b> to create a connection to the X server:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">xhost +SI:localuser:lightdm<\/pre>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\">Switch to user lightdm in this terminal window:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">su lightdm -s \/bin\/bash<\/pre>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\">Finally start dconf-editor:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">dconf-editor<\/pre>\n<p>c.) When the dconf-editor opens, navigate to <b>com \u2013> canonical \u2013> unity-greeter<\/b> in left.
