The program was designed to use minimal computer resources while offering functionality comparable to larger BitTorrent clients such as Vuze or BitComet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b5Torrent for Linux is composed of a \u00b5Torrent server and a web based client. Below I will show you how to install it in Ubuntu step by step, tested in a fresh 64-bit Ubuntu 14.10 installation.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Download the official package from the link below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a href='http:\/\/www.utorrent.com\/downloads\/linux' class='arconix-button arconix-button-large arconix-button-blue' target=\"_blank\" >Download uTorrent Server<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You may first check out your OS type from shutdown menu (top-right gear button) -> About This Computer. Then select download <b><i>&#8220;\u00b5Torrent Server for Ubuntu 13.04 &#8211; 32-bit or 64-bit&#8221;<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Once the downloading process finish, go to the Downloads folder in file browser and extract the package through its context menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/extract-utserver.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/extract-utserver.jpg\" alt=\"extract-utserver\" width=\"600\" height=\"306\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4018\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/extract-utserver.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/extract-utserver-300x153.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Tip:<\/b> If you want other users on the Ubuntu system to be able to use the uTorrent server, extract the package to <b>\/opt\/<\/b> directory. To do so, open Archive Manager as root\/admin by running <code>sudo file-roller<\/code> in terminal, then open and extract the package.<\/p>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Navigate to the result folder and run <b>utserver<\/b> from its context menu:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-utorrent-server.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-utorrent-server.jpg\" alt=\"run-utorrent-server\" width=\"600\" height=\"306\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4019\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-utorrent-server.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-utorrent-server-300x153.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right you see nothing happens because the server is running as a background program.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tip:<\/b> If you don&#8217;t see the <b>Run<\/b> option in its right-click menu, do:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\"> Go to Properties in its right-click menu, check the box where it says <i>&#8220;Allow executing file as program&#8221;<\/i> under Permissions tab.<\/p>\n<p><b>4.<\/b> Finally in your web browser go to <b>http:\/\/localhost:8080\/gui\/<\/b>.
