If you don&#8217;t have it on your system, click the link below to bring up Ubuntu Software Center and click the install button.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href='' class='arconix-button arconix-button-large arconix-button-blue'>click install dconf-editor<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you have it installed, open the tool from Unity dash or left launcher. When <b>dconf-editor<\/b> opens, navigate to <b>com -> canonical -> indicator -> sound<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Double click the closed brackets next to <b>&#8216;interested-media-players&#8217;<\/b> and remove the names of the players ended with .desktop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px;\"><i>For me, after removing &#8216;tomahawk.desktop&#8217;, &#8216;pragha.desktop&#8217;, &#8216;gnome-music.desktop&#8217;, &#8216;rhythmbox.desktop&#8217;, &#8216;pithos.desktop&#8217;, &#8216;nuvolaplayer.desktop&#8217;, only VLC media player is left under the sound menu.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cleanup-soundmenu.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cleanup-soundmenu.png\" alt=\"cleanup-soundmenu\" width=\"600\" height=\"344\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4035\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cleanup-soundmenu.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cleanup-soundmenu-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you later launch a player after you &#8220;removed&#8221; it, it will be added back to the sound menu automatically.
