Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s new and how to install in Ubuntu.<\/p>\n<p>GIMP 2.10.32 comes with <b>BigTIFF file import\/export support<\/b>, which is an evolution of the original TIFF format allowing files bigger than 4GiB. It also supports for importing <b>8 and 16-bit CMYK(A) TIFF<\/b> in this release.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tiff-export.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"343\" height=\"569\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40948\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tiff-export.webp 343w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tiff-export-181x300.webp 181w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The release also backported the <b>JPEG XL file format support<\/b> from the 2.99.8 development release. It&#8217;s so far only has import ability, though a third-party plugin is available with both import and export support.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New &#8220;Flip the image vertically on export&#8221; on DDS export dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Support loading transparent EPS files<\/li>\n<li>Improved support of TGA indexed images with alpha channel<\/li>\n<li>new PDB procedure <code>file-bmp-save2<\/code> for plugin developer.<\/li>\n<li>Add localized glyphs (locl) support for Text tool.<\/li>\n<li>on-hover indicator around the eye and link toggles<\/li>\n<li>Add &#8220;Include mouse pointer&#8221; option for Screenshot tool in Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032-600x335.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"335\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-40950\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032-600x335.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032-300x168.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032-768x429.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gimp21032.webp 1241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>How to Install GIMP 2.10.32 in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<h4>GIMP as Flatpak:<\/h4>\n<p>GIMP offers official Linux package via universal <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/details\/org.gimp.GIMP\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flatpak package<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For, <b>Ubuntu 20.04 and higher<\/b>, simply press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> to open terminal, and run the command below one by one to install it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the flatpak daemon via command:\n<pre>sudo apt install flatpak<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Then install GIMP via Flatpak using command:\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/org.gimp.GIMP.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Ubuntu PPA:<\/h4>\n<p>For those do not like sandboxed applications, I&#8217;ve uploaded the new release package into this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/gimp\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 21.10, and Ubuntu 20.04 with <code>amd64<\/code> and <code>arm64\/armhf<\/code> CPU architecture types support.<\/p>\n<p>1. First, press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal. Then run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gimp<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no visual feedback) when it asks for sudo authentication and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"96\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal.png 560w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/gimp-unofficialppa-focal-450x77.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Then, refresh system package cache by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>3.
