But, there are a few extensions can do the job. And, here I&#8217;m going to show you how to install and use them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/jammy-clockright.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"269\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-41355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/jammy-clockright.webp 430w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/jammy-clockright-300x188.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Tip: Extensions introduced in this tutorial should work on all Linux uses GNOME 42, e.g, Fedora 36, Arch Linux, Manjaro.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Enable ability to install Gnome Extensions<\/h3>\n<p>Usually, we install Gnome shell extensions by visiting <i>extensions.gnome.org<\/i> and use the ON\/OFF switch to install or remove an extension. Since Ubuntu 22.04, there&#8217;s also an &#8220;Extension Manager&#8221; app is available in system repository to make life easy.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Prepare for installing extension through web browser<\/h4>\n<p><i><b>NOTE: the pre-installed Firefox in Ubuntu 22.04 is a snap package, which so far does not support this thing. You may either use another browser and go &#8220;Option 2&#8221;.<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run command to install the agent to enable the ability to install Gnome Extension via browser, and the app for managing them.<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install chrome-gnome-shell gnome-shell-extension-prefs<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apt-chrome-shell-prefs-600x140.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"140\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apt-chrome-shell-prefs-600x140.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apt-chrome-shell-prefs-300x70.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apt-chrome-shell-prefs-768x179.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/apt-chrome-shell-prefs.webp 786w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, you need to go to <a href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exensions.gnome.org<\/a> and follow the &#8220;<i>Click here to install browser extension<\/i>&#8221; link to install the browser extension.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 2: Install Extension Manager<\/h4>\n<p>The Extension Manager app allows to search for, install, and manage extensions all in one. Choose one from the options below that you prefer!<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Just Perfection<\/h4>\n<p>This is a tweak tool to customize GNOME Shell, change the behavior and disable UI elements. They provides many useful toggle options, including moving the clock menu position.<\/p>\n<p>To install the extension, either search for and click install it via &#8220;Extension Manager&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection-600x449.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"449\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection-600x449.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection-300x224.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection-768x575.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/install-justperfection.webp 917w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, use the ON\/OFF switch by visiting the web page below in your browser:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/extension\/3843\/just-perfection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Just Perfection Extension page<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>After installed it, open its &#8216;settings&#8217; dialog either via &#8220;Extension Manager&#8221; under <i>Installed<\/i> tab or use &#8220;Gnome Extensions&#8221; app. Scroll down, and you&#8217;ll find the option to move clock position via &#8220;Customize&#8221; tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/just-perfection-clock.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/just-perfection-clock-439x600.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"439\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/just-perfection-clock-439x600.webp 439w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/just-perfection-clock-219x300.webp 219w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/just-perfection-clock.webp 762w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Option 2: Left Clock or Sur Clock<\/h4>\n<p>Just Perfection is a bit heavy if you don&#8217;t need the other options. There are a few other extensions that designed specially for moving clock position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Clock Left&#8221; or &#8220;Left Clock&#8221; &#8211; Move clock to left and replace &#8220;Activities&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Sur Clock &#8211; Move clock to left or right via preference option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To install one of the extension, simply search for and click install in &#8220;Extension Manager&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock-600x449.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"449\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock-600x449.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock-300x224.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock-768x575.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/left-clock.webp 917w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, use the ON\/OFF switch in the link page to install: <a href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/extension\/4977\/sur-clock\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sur clock<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/extension\/4667\/left-clock\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">left clock<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/extension\/4526\/clock-left\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">clock left<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 3: Top Bar Organizer<\/h4>\n<p><b>NONE of the previous extensions will move clock to <i>far<\/i> right corner.<\/b> If you insist, try &#8220;Top Bar Organizer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This extension is designed to organize all items on top-bar. It was created for GNOME 40, but no longer updated!! However, it works on current GNOME 42 desktop with few tweak. <\/p>\n<p>1.) First, press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal. And, run command to disable version validation, since it does not support Ubuntu 22.04:<\/p>\n<pre>gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-extension-version-validation true<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disable-version-val-600x159.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"159\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-40668\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disable-version-val-600x159.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disable-version-val-300x80.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disable-version-val-768x204.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/disable-version-val.webp 858w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2.) The Extension preference does not work for GNOME 42. However, the dconf editor options do work.<br \/>\nFirst, run command to install dconf editor:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install dconf-editor<\/pre>\n<p>Then, search for and launch &#8220;<b>Dconf Editor<\/b>&#8221; from the overview screen.
