So there&#8217;ll be bugs.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"arconix-box arconix-box-yellow\"><i class='fa fa-2x pull-left fa-lightbulb-o'><\/i><div class=\"arconix-box-content\">Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon final release is out! Ubuntu 14.04 user can install Cinnamon 2.4 stable from an unofficial PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;background:none\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lestcape\/cinnamon\nsudo apt-get update\nsudo apt-get install cinnamon<\/pre>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>To help test the new desktop, you can follow below steps to install or upgrade to Cinnamon 2.4 from a nightly build PPA:<\/p>\n<p>For <b>Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu 14.04<\/b>, run commands below one by one in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev\/cinnamon-nightly\n\nsudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade\n\nsudo apt-get install cinnamon<\/pre>\n<p>(Optional) To remove it, run:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove cinnamon && sudo apt-get autoremove\n\nsudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev\/cinnamon-nightly && sudo apt-get update<\/pre>\n<p>For <b>Linux Mint 17<\/b>, do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch Menu->Administration->\u201dSoftware Sources\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Tick the option \u201cUnstable Packages (Romeo)\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Carefully read the warning in the dialog that pops up and click \u201cYes\u201d if appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Launch the Update Manager and click on \u201cRefresh\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>If a new mintupdate version is shown, apply it.<\/li>\n<li>Apply all updates related to Cinnamon (sort by version, 2.4.0 or 2.4.1, or by update type since they all come from Romeo).<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cinnamon Desktop 2.4 has been announced recently, which will be featured in Linux Mint 17.1 \u201cRebecca\u201d planned for the end of November and in LMDE 2 \u201cBetsy\u201d planned for Spring 2015.
