PPA updated for Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 18.04.<\/p>\n<p>The new Kid3 3.9.2 is a bug-fix release. Though, there are new features including <b>.dff<\/b> support, an audio format developed by Sony and Philips for Super Audio CD (SACD).<\/p>\n<p>New features also include support for chapters in MP4 audio books, importing from URLs containing search results from Discogs and MusicBrainz, and a Norwegian translation.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in the release include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allow playlist file name formats to be edited.<\/li>\n<li>URLs with search results from web browser can be entered in the import dialogs (Amazon, Discogs, gnudb.org, MusicBrainz).<\/li>\n<li>New style for macOS icon.<\/li>\n<li>Cli interface adds encoding detection for text file import and export.<\/li>\n<li>Set rating as star count with &#8216;set ratingstars&#8217; (Kid3-cli).<\/li>\n<li>Build with latest mp4v2 library.<\/li>\n<li>Fix wrong modifications of frames when importing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/kid3-tagger-600x350.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42927\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/kid3-tagger-600x350.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/kid3-tagger-300x175.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/kid3-tagger-768x448.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/kid3-tagger.webp 917w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>How to Install Kid3 3.9.2 in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p>The app has an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ufleisch\/+archive\/ubuntu\/kid3\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official PPA<\/a> contains the packages for all current Ubuntu releases, and their based systems, such as Linux Mint, Pop! OS, Zorin OS.<\/p>\n<p>1. First, search for and open terminal either from system start menu or &#8216;Activities&#8217; overview. When it opens, run command to add PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ufleisch\/kid3<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/kid3-ppa-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"159\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32784\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/kid3-ppa-focal.png 560w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/kid3-ppa-focal-450x128.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Then update package cache by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>3. If an old version of the software package exist in system, you can now open &#8220;Software Updater&#8221; or &#8220;Update Manager&#8221; to update the tag editor app.<\/p>\n<p>Or, simply run the command below in terminal to install it:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install kid3-qt<\/pre>\n<p>You may replace <code>kid3-qt<\/code> with <code>kid3<\/code> in the code for KDE desktop, and\/or with <code>kid3-cli<\/code> for the command-line interface.<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove the PPA, either use &#8216;Software Sources&#8217; or &#8216;Software &#038; Updates&#8217; utility, or run command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ufleisch\/kid3<\/pre>\n<p>And, remove kid3 tag editor via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --auto-remove kid3 kid3-*<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kid3, the popular Qt audio tag editor, released version 3.9.2 today.
