Meaning many plugins may not work until the developers updated with Qt6 support. In case you want to install the new release in Ubuntu 18.04, try the steps below.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.) Setup Flatpak daemon<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Some Linux, such as Linux Mint, Fedora, Pop! OS has Flatpak support out-of-the-box. But, most other does not, so you may first follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/flatpak.org\/setup\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">setup guide<\/a> to enable it for your Linux.<\/p>\n<p>For <b>Ubuntu 18.04<\/b>, press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal and run command to add the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~flatpak\/+archive\/ubuntu\/stable\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flatpak PPA<\/a><\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flatpak\/stable<\/pre>\n<p>Then update system package cache via:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, run the <code>apt<\/code> command to install the daemon package:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install flatpak<\/pre>\n<p><b>2.) Install OBS Studio as Flatpak<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After setup the daemon, run the single command below will install this live streaming software:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/com.obsproject.Studio.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<p>As a containerized software packages, it may also install the run-time libraries that takes more disk spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, launch it either by searching from &#8220;Show Applications&#8221; screen or via command below:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak run com.obsproject.Studio<\/pre>\n<h4>Option 2: Install OBS Studio via Ubuntu PPA<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~obsproject\/+archive\/ubuntu\/obs-studio\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official PPA<\/a> has updated the packages for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Linux Mint 20\/21 based systems.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.)<\/b> First open terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard and run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:obsproject\/obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type password (no asterisk feedback) when it asks and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/obs-studio-ppa-focal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/obs-studio-ppa-focal-600x207.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"207\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-33887\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/obs-studio-ppa-focal-600x207.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/obs-studio-ppa-focal-300x103.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/obs-studio-ppa-focal.jpg 761w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>2.)<\/b> Linux Mint and maybe some other Linux do not update the package cache automatically while adding PPA. So, you need to run the command below instead to do it manually:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p><b>3.)<\/b> Finally, either update the package via &#8220;<i>Software Updater<\/i>&#8221; (Update Manager), or run the command below to install it:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/apt-obs-studio-focal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/apt-obs-studio-focal-600x287.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"287\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-33886\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/apt-obs-studio-focal-600x287.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/apt-obs-studio-focal-300x143.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/apt-obs-studio-focal.jpg 762w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall OBS Studio:<\/h3>\n<p>For the Flatpak package, open terminal (<i>press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard<\/i>) and run command to uninstall the package:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall --delete-data com.obsproject.Studio<\/pre>\n<p>For the Ubuntu PPA package, either install PPA purge tool and purge the PPA, which also downgrade all installed package:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:obsproject\/obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p>Or, remove the PPA package via apt command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove obs-studio<\/pre>\n<p>As well as removing the PPA repository via:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:obsproject\/obs-studio<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Free open-source video capturing, recording and live streaming software, OBS Studio, just got a big update with exciting new features!
