Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 20.04, &#038; Ubuntu 18.04 via PPA.<\/p>\n<p>The new release now allows <b>importing 1Password 8.7 1PUX, and Key Folder 1.22 XML files<\/b>, as well as groups and expiry dates when importing Sticky Password XML.<\/p>\n<p>There are also other password manager files compatibility, such as support for the new encoding of double quotes when importing Steganos Password Manager CSV, and automatically convert time-based one-time password generator settings on Bitwarden JSON import.<\/p>\n<p>KeePass2 2.52 also has some UI improvements, including &#8216;Copy Initial Password&#8217; option in the tool menu of entry dialog; &#8216;Alt. item background color&#8217; option that combines the previous &#8216;Use alternating item background colors&#8217; and &#8216;Custom alt. item color&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/copy-initial-passwd.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/copy-initial-passwd-600x550.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"550\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/copy-initial-passwd-600x550.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/copy-initial-passwd-300x275.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/copy-initial-passwd.webp 739w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It now checks the &#8216;KeePass.exe.config&#8217; file and shows a warning message when finding a problem. Which, causes the following pop-up on every start in my case. Though, it seems working without any issue.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/keepass2-warning.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"157\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/keepass2-warning.webp 459w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/keepass2-warning-300x103.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 459px) 100vw, 459px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not user of KeePass, and don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s wrong with the default config file build from source tarball. <b>If you know how to correct it, please leave comment below<\/b> so I can fix it in the PPA package.<\/p>\n<p>See more about KeePass 2.52 via the <a href=\"https:\/\/keepass.info\/news\/n220909_2.52.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official release note<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>UPDATE for the &#8220;\/usr\/lib\/keepass2\/KeePass.exe.config&#8221;:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <i>Ivan K<\/i> and <i>gilles<\/i>, you may manually correct the version number to workaround the issue:<\/p>\n<p>1. Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to get the version number:<\/p>\n<pre>monodis --assembly \/usr\/lib\/keepass2\/KeePass.exe<\/pre>\n<p>2. Next, edit the config file via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo gedit \/usr\/lib\/keepass2\/KeePass.exe.config<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, change the &#8220;NewVersion&#8221; number to match the one you got in last command.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version-600x364.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"364\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version-600x364.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version-300x182.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version-768x466.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/correct-keepass2-version.webp 1276w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Install KeePass2 2.52 via PPA:<\/h3>\n<p>Though there are good native password managers such as KeePassXC for Linux, you can use KeePass2 for your choice. And, I uploaded the package into this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/keepass2\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for easy installation.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> First, press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal. Then run the command below to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/keepass2<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/keepass2-ppa-focal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"140\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/keepass2-ppa-focal.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/keepass2-ppa-focal-450x105.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> For old Ubuntu 18.04 &#038; Linux Mint, you need to manually refresh package cache though it&#8217;s done automatically in Ubuntu 20.04+:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Finally, either run the apt command below to install the package:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install keepass2<\/pre>\n<p>Or use Software Updater (Update Manager) to update the package if an old version was installed on your system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-keepass2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"251\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-keepass2.png 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/apt-keepass2-450x188.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall KeePass2:<\/h3>\n<p>To remove the software package, also open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove keepass2<\/pre>\n<p>And, remove the PPA, either by going to &#8220;Software &#038; Updates -> Other Software&#8221; and remove the source line, or run the command below in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/keepass2<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KeePass2 password manager released version 2.52 a day ago.
