But it&#8217;s old and lack of ScanGear support for Ubuntu 14.04, and Linux Mint 17.<\/p>\n<p><b>UPDATE: This post is outdated! To get started, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, paste the command below and hit enter to run:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border: none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:inameiname\/stable<\/pre>\n<p>Type in your user password when it asks and hit Enter to continue. This will add <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~inameiname\/+archive\/ubuntu\/stable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the PPA repository<\/a> into your system.<\/p>\n<p>2. After that, open <b>Synaptic Package Manager<\/b> from the Unity Dash. If you don&#8217;t find it, search for and install it from Ubuntu Software Center.<\/p>\n<p>Do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <b>Reload<\/b> button to refresh your system cache.<\/li>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>To install a printer driver:\n<ul>\n<li>In <i>Quick filter<\/i> box, type in <b>cnijfilter<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To install a ScanGear:\n<ul>\n<li>In <i>Quick filter<\/i> box, type in <b>scangearmp<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select a package in the result list that matches your device.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the package and select &#8220;Mark for Installation&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Finally click on the &#8220;Apply&#8221; button to install the driver.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once the printer and scanner drivers are installed, connect your device to the computer and start <b>Printers<\/b> utility test if it works.
