It has many configure options, however most of them are hidden.<\/p>\n<p>In Ubuntu 23.10, it finally provides a preference dialog to configure its appearance with full options. If you messed thing up or want to restore Ubuntu Dock to factory setting, then this tutorial may help!<\/p>\n<h3>Reset Ubuntu Dock<\/h3>\n<p>The steps below should work in all current Ubuntu releases, include other Gnome-based Linux (such as Manjaro) using Dash-to-dock extension.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Single command to reset Ubuntu Dock<\/h4>\n<p>Without installing anything, running a single command in terminal window can do the job.<\/p>\n<p>First, open <b>terminal<\/b> either by searching from the overview screen, or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut key on keyboard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/terminal-jammy.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38555\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/terminal-jammy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"522\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/terminal-jammy.png 522w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/terminal-jammy-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When terminal opens, copy and paste the command below and hit Enter.<\/p>\n<pre>dconf reset -f \/org\/gnome\/shell\/extensions\/dash-to-dock\/<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-44387\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock-600x198.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock-600x198.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock-300x99.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock-768x254.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reset-ubuntu-dock.webp 786w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The command above resets Ubuntu Dock, but leaves your favorite apps (pinned app icons) unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to also reset the app icons on the Dock, run command:<\/p>\n<pre>gsettings reset org.gnome.shell favorite-apps<\/pre>\n<h4>Option 2: Use Dconf Editor (graphical way)<\/h4>\n<p>For a graphical way, the advanced &#8216;Dconf Editor&#8217; configuration tool can do the job.<\/p>\n<p>First, either search for and install &#8216;<b>Dconf Editor<\/b>&#8216; from Ubuntu Software:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-39645\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy-600x342.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy-600x342.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy-300x171.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy-768x437.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/install-dconfeditor-jammy.webp 915w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, install it by running a command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install dconf-editor<\/pre>\n<p>Then, launch Dconf Editor by searching from the overview screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/launch-dconf-editor.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44320\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/launch-dconf-editor.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"547\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/launch-dconf-editor.webp 547w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/launch-dconf-editor-300x150.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When it opens, navigate to &#8216;<code>org\/gnome\/shell\/extensions\/dash-to-dock<\/code>&#8216;.
