After more than 8 months of work, it has received 9 bug-fix updates and finally made into PPA for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.<\/p>\n<p>Plasma 5.27 features <b>new window tiling system<\/b>, that can be enabled &#8220;<i>System Settings &gt; Workspace Behavior &gt; Desktop Effects<\/i>&#8220;. It allows to <i>Shift + dragging<\/i> to tile windows, and <i>Super (Windows logo) + T<\/i> to edit tiling mode.<\/p>\n<p>The release also features new <b>Welcome dialog<\/b>, allowing to learn about new features and how to tweak settings, etc, swipe gestures for volume and playback control in Media Player widget, power usage monitor detection for NVIDIA GPUs, new command activate &#8220;Do Not Disturb&#8221; mode.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-44554\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-600x302.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-600x302.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-300x151.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-768x387.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-1536x774.webp 1536w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278-1320x665.webp 1320w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/kubuntu2204-plasma-5278.webp 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Other changes in <a href=\"https:\/\/kde.org\/announcements\/plasma\/5\/5.27.0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plasma 5.27<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve search function in Discover software manager.<\/li>\n<li>Search time for other locations in KRunner.<\/li>\n<li>Search dictionary definition of a word in KRunner.<\/li>\n<li>Swipe gestures for volume and playback control in Media Player widget<\/li>\n<li>System Monitor (widget and app) can detect power usage of NVIDIA GPUs.<\/li>\n<li>New command <code>kde-inhibit --notifications<\/code> to activate &#8220;Do Not Disturb&#8221; mode.<\/li>\n<li>Send windows to Activities via titlebar right-click menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Install Plasma 5.27 in (K)Ubuntu 22.04<\/h3>\n<p><b>NOTE: This tutorial is also tested and works in Ubuntu Studio 22.04, but may not be supported, since the PPA is maintained by KUbuntu Team.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The latest Plasma Desktop packages are usually available in <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kubuntu-ppa\/+archive\/ubuntu\/backports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KUbuntu Backports PPA<\/a> for current short-term Ubuntu releases (23.04\/23.10 so far).<\/p>\n<p>For current Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kubuntu-ppa\/+archive\/ubuntu\/backports-extra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extra PPA<\/a> is available, but moving slowly.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> First, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal (konsole).
