And, it has various stability and other fixes that 3.4.0 users are urged to upgrade to the new release.<\/p>\n<p>They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fix 24-bit recording.<\/li>\n<li>Fix a crash with .aup importing.<\/li>\n<li>Fix crossfading of clips and tracks.<\/li>\n<li>Exporting multiple files honors sample rate settings again.<\/li>\n<li>Fix crashes related to external program exports.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl+J is now a standard shortcut for joining clips.<\/li>\n<li>Stereo tracks no longer randomly split into mono.<\/li>\n<li>When exporting a file, the file extension is now always added<\/li>\n<li>Fix a crash when exporting Opus with older CPUs that don&#8217;t support AVX.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-44672\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341-600x375.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341-600x375.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341-768x480.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/audacity-341.webp 1140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>How to Install Audacity 3.4.1 in Ubuntu:<\/h3>\n<p><b>Option 1: AppImage (official)<\/b><br \/>\nIt provides official macOS .dmg, Windows .exe, and Linux .AppImage packages available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/audacity\/audacity\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Audacity<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, click expand the &#8220;<b>Assets<\/b>&#8221; section and choose download the <b>.AppImage<\/b> package.<\/p>\n<p>Then, right-click on the .AppImage file and go to its &#8216;Properties&#8217; dialog. Add executable permission by enable &#8216;<i>allow executing file as program<\/i>&#8216;. First, press <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> on keyboard to open terminal. When terminal opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audacity<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback) when it asks and hit Enter to continue.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43953\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/audacity-ppa-600x324.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/audacity-ppa-600x324.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/audacity-ppa-300x162.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/audacity-ppa.webp 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. For Linux Mint users, you may manually update system package cache by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>3. Then, Ubuntu users can install Audacity as Flatpak by running the 2 commands below one by one:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install flatpak<\/pre>\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/org.audacityteam.Audacity.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<h3>Uninstall:<\/h3>\n<p>To uninstall Audacity 3.4.1 PPA package, you have 2 choices:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Purge the Ubuntu PPA, which also downgrade the installed packages to the stock versions in your system:\n<pre>sudo apt install ppa-purge &amp;&amp; sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audacity<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Or, remove Audacity package by running command:\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove audacity audacity-data<\/pre>\n<p>Then, remove the Ubuntu PPA via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audacity<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To uninstall the Flatpak package, use command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall --delete-data org.audacityteam.Audacity<\/pre>\n<p>Also run <code>flatpak uninstall --unused<\/code> to remove useless runtimes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Audacity audio editor announced the first point release for the Audacity 3.4.0 feature release today!
