They include <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.gnome.org\/YaLTeR\/video-trimmer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Video Trimmer<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ozmartian\/vidcutter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VidCutter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Lossless Cut is my top favorite one! It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data. It&#8217;s <b>extremely fast<\/b> because it does almost direct data copy instead of re-encoding with the power of FFmpeg library.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-45110\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark-700x440.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark-700x440.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark-300x189.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark-768x483.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark-1320x830.webp 1320w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/losslesscut-dark.webp 1393w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I use the tool regularly for video play back and basic cut and join functions.<\/p>\n<p>Just drag&#8217;n&#8217;drop or use menu option to open a video file, then:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>press either <b>Spacebar<\/b> or <b>k<\/b> on keyboard to start or pause playback.<\/li>\n<li>press <b>j<\/b> or <b>l<\/b> to speed up or slow down playback<\/li>\n<li><b>left\/right<\/b> arrows to seek back\/forward 1 seconds<\/li>\n<li>or <b>,<\/b>\/<b>.<\/b> to seek 1 back\/forward 1 frame.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the good part, press &#8216;<b>i<\/b>&#8216; to set current frame as start of cut point, then keep playing or click on seek bar until you find the end point and press &#8216;<b>o<\/b>&#8216; to set the frame as end.<\/p>\n<p>All the keyboard shortcuts are editable to meet your need. Like web browsers, user can press <b>F11<\/b> on keyboard to enter and exit full-screen mode. However, at the moment of writing, the package version is lag behind. Check it <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/no.mifi.losslesscut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flathub repository<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 3: AppImage package<\/h4>\n<p>The Github releases page provides universal Linux package through <b>.AppImage<\/b>, available under &#8220;Assets&#8221; section.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mifi\/lossless-cut\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Lossless Cut<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Like Snap and Flatpak, it&#8217;s another universal Linux package format runs in sandbox. Just, right-click on AppImage, go to &#8220;Properties&#8221; and add executable permission under <i>Permissions<\/i> tab.
