Now, the developer team is going to remove them from the installer in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Since Ubuntu 23.10, Ubuntu Desktop no longer provides &#8216;<code>Minimal installation<\/code>&#8216; option in the installer. Instead, it&#8217;s &#8220;re-named&#8221; to &#8220;<code>Default installation<\/code>&#8221; with just the essentials, web browser and basic utilities. User can choose &#8220;<code>Full installation<\/code>&#8221; option for the office, media player, games, and other app packages that&#8217;s previously installed by default in old Ubuntu releases.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few days ago, the desktop team proposed to remove the games from <code>full installation<\/code>, then made the decision with wider support.<\/p>\n<p>Meaning that the game packages may be completely removed from the iso image, though they are still available to install in Ubuntu Software (App Center).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-45711\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-700x487.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-700x487.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-300x209.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-768x535.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-1536x1070.webp 1536w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games-1320x919.webp 1320w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/ubuntu-games.webp 1637w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The games include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Aisleriot Solitaire<\/b> &#8211; a rule-based solitaire card engine that allows many different games to be played.<\/li>\n<li><b>Mahjongg<\/b> &#8211; a matching game played with Mahjongg tiles<\/li>\n<li><b>Mines<\/b> &#8211; clear explosive mines off the board.<\/li>\n<li><b>Sudoku<\/b> &#8211; the popular Japanese logic puzzle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve never played the games, though they are available by default, until I saw the proposition in <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/proposal-drop-the-games-from-ubuntu-desktops-full-install\/42776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu Discourse<\/a>.
