It is a proprietary software free for use. For those who prefer open-source, then Google also offers Chromium browser for choice.<\/p>\n<p>Google Chrome is available to install in Linux on only <b>Intel\/AMD platform<\/b> through 2 ways! They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>official and native <b>.deb<\/b>\/<b>.rpm<\/b> package.<\/li>\n<li>unofficial community maintained <b>Flatpak<\/b> package, runs in sandbox environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here I&#8217;m going to show you how to install the browser in both ways. Then, run command to create <code>\/etc\/apt\/keyrings<\/code>, and move the GPG key to that directory:\n<pre>sudo mkdir -p \/etc\/apt\/keyrings\/<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo mv \/etc\/apt\/trusted.gpg.d\/google-chrome.gpg \/etc\/apt\/keyrings\/<\/pre>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have the key (run <code>ls \/etc\/apt\/keyrings<\/code> to tell), then run the command below to download &amp; save to target location:<\/p>\n<pre>wget -qO - https:\/\/dl.google.com\/linux\/linux_signing_key.pub | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee \/etc\/apt\/keyrings\/google-chrome.gpg<\/pre>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_49812\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/move-chrome-key.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49812\" class=\"size-large wp-image-49812\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/move-chrome-key-700x290.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/move-chrome-key-700x290.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/move-chrome-key-300x124.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/move-chrome-key.webp 702w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-49812\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Move the key file to the correct location<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li>Next, remove the auto-added config file:\n<pre>sudo rm \/etc\/apt\/sources.list.d\/google-chrome.list<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Tips:<\/strong> since 25.10, there&#8217;s <code>sudo apt modernize-sources<\/code> command to auto transform <code>.list<\/code> to <code>.sources<\/code>, though you need to manually edit &#8216;signed-by&#8217; section in this case.<\/li>\n<li>Then, add new one by running the command below in terminal:\n<pre>sudo nano \/etc\/apt\/sources.list.d\/google-chrome.sources<\/pre>\n<p>The command will create the config file in &#8220;Deb822&#8221; file format, that are default for official Ubuntu repositories and PPAs, then open it in <code>nano<\/code> command line text editor.<\/p>\n<p>When it opens, paste the follow lines:<\/p>\n<pre>Types: deb\r\nURIs: https:\/\/dl.google.com\/linux\/chrome\/deb\/\r\nSuites: stable\r\nComponents: main\r\nArchitectures: amd64\r\nSigned-By: \/etc\/apt\/keyrings\/google-chrome.gpg<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chrome-sources-1.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49813\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chrome-sources-1-700x467.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chrome-sources-1-700x467.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chrome-sources-1-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/chrome-sources-1.webp 702w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Finally, save the file by pressing <b>Ctrl+S<\/b> and exit via <b>Ctrl+X<\/b>.
