It&#8217;s based on open source technologies of 7-Zip, p7zip, Brotli, FreeArc, PAQ, Zstandard, and PEA projects. And, supports over 200 archive types including 7Z \/ XZ \/ TXZ, ACE (*), BZ2 \/ TBZ, Brotli BR, GZ \/ TGZ, ISO, RAR, TAR, WIM, ZIP, ZIPX, ZPAQ, Zstandard ZST and more.<\/p>\n<p>The free file archiver is easy to install in Ubuntu and other Linux through its official binary package. They include native <code>.deb<\/code>\/<code>.rpm<\/code>, portable tarball, and universal Flatpak package. While, native <code>.deb<\/code>\/<code>.rpm<\/code> is recommended for better integration.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Install native <code>.deb<\/code> Package (AMD\/Intel only)<\/h4>\n<p>1. First, go to PeaZip website to download the package for Linux:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/peazip.github.io\/peazip-linux.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download PeaZip for Linux<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For choice, you may download the packages from other download mirrors: <a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/peazip\/files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sourceforge<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/peazip\/PeaZip\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Github releases<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p>For Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc, select download the DEB package, while Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE, etc users can choose the RPM package instead.<\/p>\n<p>And, for KDE\/LxQT Desktop, choose the Qt6 package, while GNOME, MATE, XFCE etc select download the GTK2 version. dialog for the associated files.<\/p>\n<p>For choice, there are some built-in scripts to add more context menu options, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add to Archive<\/li>\n<li>Convert<\/li>\n<li>Extract Archive<\/li>\n<li>Extract Here<\/li>\n<li>Extract to Folder<\/li>\n<li>Open Archive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For GNOME Desktop (Nautilus file manager)<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/peazip-nautilus-actions.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-46142\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/peazip-nautilus-actions-700x480.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/peazip-nautilus-actions-700x480.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/peazip-nautilus-actions-300x206.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/peazip-nautilus-actions.webp 716w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For GNOME, just copy all the scripts from &#8216;\/usr\/share\/peazip\/batch\/freedesktop_integration\/Nautilus-scripts\/Archiving\/PeaZip&#8217; directory to &#8216;.local\/share\/nautilus\/scripts&#8217;, then add executable permission for them. For Ubuntu with default GNOME desktop, press <code>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/code> to open terminal. Then, run command to <strong>navigate to the script folder<\/strong> (for DEB version):<\/p>\n<pre>cd \/usr\/share\/peazip\/batch\/freedesktop_integration\/Nautilus-scripts\/<\/pre>\n<p>For the portable tarball, right-click on the portable PeaZip folder, then select &#8220;<b>Open in Terminal<\/b>&#8221; to first open that folder as working directory, then navigate to the script folder:<\/p>\n<pre>cd res\/share\/batch\/freedesktop_integration\/Nautilus-scripts\/<\/pre>\n<p>2. Then, <strong>copy PeaZip subfolder<\/strong>\u00a0in that folder, to <code>.local\/share\/nautilus\/scripts<\/code> folder so your file manager can read them:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo cp -R .\/PeaZip ~\/.local\/share\/nautilus\/scripts<\/pre>\n<p>And, <strong>change the ownership<\/strong> of them to your current user.<\/p>\n<pre>sudo chown -R $USER:$USER ~\/.local\/share\/nautilus\/scripts\/*<\/pre>\n<p>3.
