It&#8217;s made up of <code>Document<\/code>, <code>Spreadsheet<\/code>, <code>Presentation<\/code>, and <code>PDF Form<\/code> apps, and, supports collaborative editing by connecting to a cloud service.<\/p>\n<p>The new 8.1 release finally added <strong>full-featured PDF editing support<\/strong> for the both online and offline apps. Meaning, make changes to the slide master will apply to all the other slides in your presentation. For the new feature, simply go to <code>View<\/code> tab.<\/p>\n<p>The Document editor tool in the release now has a toggle option in the right corner. Then, the cloud button disappeared (even in next launch) until you un-hide by running <code>onlyoffice-desktopeditors --lock-portals<\/code><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-46796\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice-700x543.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice-700x543.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice-300x233.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice-768x595.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/hide-cloud-onlyoffice.webp 810w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other changes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlyoffice.com\/blog\/2024\/06\/onlyoffice-desktop-editors-v8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OnlyOffice Desktop Editor 8.1<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better RTL support with improved word order, correct alignment for different text types.<\/li>\n<li>New media player in the presentation editor.<\/li>\n<li>An animation pane to display all the applied effects on the timeline in the presentation editor.<\/li>\n<li>No need other formats to create and edit fillable PDF forms.<\/li>\n<li>Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin) localization option.<\/li>\n<li>Set page color and customize numbering format in documents.<\/li>\n<li>Insert shape with shadow and adjust properties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Get OnlyOffice Desktop Editors 8.1<\/h3>\n<p>OnlyOffice provides the official binary packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux, available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onlyoffice.com\/download-desktop.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download OnlyOffice Desktop Editors<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Ubuntu users, either download the <strong>DEB package<\/strong>, then click install it in Download folder via &#8220;Open with Software Install&#8221; option (<b>Ubuntu 24.04 so far does NOT support this feature<\/b>).<br \/>\nOr, press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open up a terminal window, and run the command below instead to install the .deb package:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install ~\/Downloads\/onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb<\/pre>\n<p>Or, install the <strong>Snap package<\/strong> which is available in App Center (or Ubuntu Software for 22.04 and earlier). Though the Snap package runs in sandbox environment.<\/p>\n<p>For choice, the office suite is also available as <strong>AppImage<\/strong>. Just download it from link button above, enable &#8220;Executable as Program&#8221; permission in file &#8216;Properties&#8217; dialog, finally you may click Run the AppImage package to launch OnlyOffice.<\/p>\n<p>Linux Mint 21 users can search for and install OnlyOffice as <strong>Flatpak package<\/strong> directly from Software Manager.
