Clementine, the old popular music player and library organizer, finally got a new stable release!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Clementine is a free open-source music player inspired by Amarok 1.4. It provides an easy to use Qt5 user interface to play and manage large music collections, while keeping fast and lightweight.<\/p>\n<p>Besides local music playback, the player also supports internet radios, such as last.fm, radio-browser.info, Subsonic. And, it can search and play you music from cloud, including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, it provides handy tools to transcode music, open and rip audio CD. Some people said it&#8217;s not being actively developed, but that&#8217;s NOT true!<\/p>\n<p>The original developer <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/davidsansome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Sansome<\/a> does no longer code for Clementine since 2016. But, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/hatstand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Maguire<\/a> and other contributors are still working on it.<\/p>\n<p><b>Clementine music player keeps moving, though very slowly. Since 2020, it rolled out the first release candidate for v1.4. Then, after a few hundred of RC pre-releases, it finally released 1.4.1 stable in last week.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Changes in Clementine 1.4<\/h3>\n<p>At the moment of writing, there&#8217;s no official announcement, no release note, or even no changelog for the new 1.4 release.<\/p>\n<p>If you care about this app, then the only choice could be digging the commits in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/clementine-player\/Clementine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Github project page<\/a>. And, I did that and summed up part of the changes since v1.3.1:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Back\/Forward mouse buttons support.<\/li>\n<li>Radio-browser.info support.<\/li>\n<li>Add image fetching support from wikipedia.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll over side-bar icon support.<\/li>\n<li>Option to show\/hide side-bar.<\/li>\n<li>Added popular library filter group filter: Album artist\/Album<\/li>\n<li>Support for displaying lyrics from Vorbis Comments.<\/li>\n<li>Add support for classicalradio.com<\/li>\n<li>Remove support for VK.com, Spotify.<\/li>\n<li>Remove SoundCloud support<\/li>\n<li>opus support in Windows build.<\/li>\n<li>New shortcut to remove current song from playlist.<\/li>\n<li>Add contextual searches to playlists, library and global search.<\/li>\n<li>Option to stop playback if song fails to play.<\/li>\n<li>Add appearance option to hide playlist filter toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Add search filter to playlist list page.<\/li>\n<li>Command line option to delete currently playing track.<\/li>\n<li>Add Musicbrainz integration to the cd ripper<\/li>\n<li>Rewrite the Block Analyzer to improve performance and reduce CPU usage.<\/li>\n<li>Improve CD ripping dialog to update process bar continuously during the ripping process.<\/li>\n<li>Added option to remove\/replace originals in transcoder dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Transcoder now accepts URLs for sources.<\/li>\n<li>Remove support for Amazon Cloud Drive.<\/li>\n<li>udisks2 support for devicemanager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are also numerous bug-fixes, translation updates, and other improvements.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Install Clementine 1.4.1<\/h3>\n<p>The Github releases page provides Linux, Windows packages and source tarball for downloading via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/clementine-player\/Clementine\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Clementine (under Assets)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, they include <code>.deb<\/code> packages for Debian 10 buster, Debian 11 bullseye, Ubuntu 20.04 Focal, Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy, and Ubuntu 24.04 Noble, as well as <code>.rpm<\/code> package for Fedora 39\/40.<\/p>\n<p>They are all for AMD\/Intel platform.
