While, the developers are working on next major Audacity 4.0.<\/p>\n<p>The new release improved contrast in the light theme. Which, fixed the issue that the focus border was hard to discern as it was blue against a blue-based background.<\/p>\n<p>To not make disabled and neurodivergent people uncomfortable while they use Audacity, it renamed the word &#8220;<b>Insane<\/b>&#8221; in the Quality drop-down menu in the Export Audio dialog with &#8220;<b>Excessive<\/b>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-47462\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality-700x463.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality-700x463.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality-300x199.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality-768x508.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/audacity370-export-quality.webp 1148w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The release also re-named &#8220;<code>Split Cut<\/code>&#8221; and &#8220;<code>Split Delete<\/code>&#8221; menu option to &#8220;<code>Cut and leave gap<\/code>&#8221; and &#8220;<code>Delete and leave gap<\/code>&#8220;, removed unnecessary sample rate probing during startup, which can improve startup time on systems with many audio devices. And, adding, removing, replacing and reordering of effects are now undoable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/rename-cut-delete.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47463\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/rename-cut-delete.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/rename-cut-delete.webp 622w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/rename-cut-delete-300x186.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Audacity 3.7.0 also fixed a database sometimes not being compacted issue. Which causes very much bigger data size, and long time to discard undo\/redo history.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include properly handle non-standard character in name of project for saving to cloud, pasting clips no longer moves clips on other tracks if &#8220;editing clips can move other clips&#8221; is enabled, as well as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed AppImage launching, and CI Arch Linux build issue.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed misaligned close icon for the spectrogram in Multi-View<\/li>\n<li>For MacOS, fixed that Preset information is available in AU plugins but not VST<\/li>\n<li>Fixed crash when trying to undo\/redo adding and reordering of the effect on the master<\/li>\n<li>Fixed crash when making a stereo track from mono tracks is cancelled #7610<\/li>\n<li>Fixed importing opus file, which shifted left the first 882 samples.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Get Audacity 3.7.0<\/h3>\n<p>The software website provides official packages for Linux, Windows and macOS, which are available to download via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/www.audacityteam.org\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Audacity<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, it&#8217;s an universal <b>.AppImage<\/b> package. Just add &#8220;Executable as Program&#8221; permission from file Properties dialog. Then, user can click run the AppImage to launch the audio editor.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Ubuntu since 22.04 does NOT support AppImage out-of-the-box. The PPA package follows Debian\/Ubuntu policy that disables network access for the app.<\/p>\n<p>To add the PPA and install the .deb package, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the commands below one by one:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audacity<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo apt install audacity<\/pre>\n<p>Audacity is also available to install as <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/org.audacityteam.Audacity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatpak package<\/a>.
