Though, it&#8217;s independent of the accent color after logged in.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_47632\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47632\" class=\"size-large wp-image-47632\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors-700x511.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors-700x511.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors-300x219.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors-768x561.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/gdm-accentcolors.webp 927w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-47632\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Accent Color support in Login Screen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Besides that, the release also added option to <b>turn on\/off touchpad<\/b> at login screen, as well as an option to automatically disable touchpad when an external mouse connected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-47633\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm-700x478.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm-700x478.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm-300x205.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm-768x524.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/disable-touchpad-gdm.webp 973w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other changes include show\/hide date option in top-bar, initial warning on startup, and bug-fixes.<\/p>\n<p>And, with GDM Settings 5.0, you can configure following things for GNOME login screen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Accent color<\/b> (needs GNOME 47+)<\/li>\n<li><b>Shell, icons, and cursor theme.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Background image or color.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Fonts<\/b> and scaling factor.<\/li>\n<li><b>Top-bar<\/b> settings, including show\/hide battery percentage, accessibility menu, text and background color, color format, etc.<\/li>\n<li><b>Sound<\/b> settings, including sound theme, enable\/disable event sound, input feedback sounds.<\/li>\n<li><b>Mouse &amp; touchpad<\/b> settings, such as cursor size, natural scrolling, disable touchpad while typing, pointer speed, etc.<\/li>\n<li><b>Nightlight.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Enable\/disable restart button, user list, logo, welcome message.<\/li>\n<li>Automatic suspend, power button behavior, and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Install GDM Settings<\/h3>\n<p>The application provides official <b>.AppImage<\/b> package available to download in the Github releases page:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/gdm-settings\/gdm-settings\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download GDM Settings (.appimage under Assets)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>However, the .AppImage MAY or MAY NOT work in Ubuntu due to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/gdm-settings\/gdm-settings\/issues\/209\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this bug<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The app is also available to install as <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/io.github.realmazharhussain.GdmSettings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatpak package<\/a>. But, also MAY or MAY NOT work in Ubuntu since it was built with different GNOME run-times.<\/p>\n<p><b>For Ubuntu 24.04 and Ubuntu 24.10<\/b>, the best choice is to install GDM Settings from system repository, <b>though it&#8217;s old!<\/b> To do so, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install gdm-settings libglib2.0-dev-bin<\/pre>\n<p><b>For the latest 5.0 release<\/b>, you may either build it from source, or use this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/gdm-settings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> so far supports Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu 24.10, and Ubuntu 25.04.<\/p>\n<p>To add the PPA and install the app package, run the commands below one by one in teriminal:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/gdm-settings<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo apt install gdm-settings libglib2.0-dev-bin<\/pre>\n<p>Tips: the PPA also contains the old 1.0 version for Ubuntu 22.04.
