It now has <b>3 new tool-bar icons<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code>View Switcher<\/code> to switch between icon, list, and compact view,<\/li>\n<li>as well as <code>new tab<\/code> and <code>new window<\/code> icons to open current folder in new tab or window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you toggle hide the menu-bar, it now shows a <b>hamburger menu<\/b> in top-left for vertical menu. And, the file manager now supports <b>client side decorations<\/b> (CSD), that hides the title-bar and uses a more compact header, just like GNOME does.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_47745\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/thunar_csd_without_menu.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47745\" class=\"size-large wp-image-47745\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/thunar_csd_without_menu-700x179.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/thunar_csd_without_menu-700x179.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/thunar_csd_without_menu-300x77.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/thunar_csd_without_menu.webp 744w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-47745\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">thunar file manager with client side decorations<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Other changes in Thunar file manager include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Show an emblem for mount points, support ipv6 URLs and ability to create symbolic links for remote locations.<\/li>\n<li>Option to use symbolic icons in the side pane and colored icons in the toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Auto-open folder that&#8217;s dragging hover.<\/li>\n<li>Performance improvements involving bigger numbers of files.<\/li>\n<li>Option to only copy files in parallel<\/li>\n<li>Support folder expansion in list view.<\/li>\n<li>And more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>For the panel<\/b>, it now supports changing border width, removing panel items with <code>delete<\/code> key. Clock now supports 24h mode, and it&#8217;s able to show the desktop when hovering the mouse on the &#8220;show desktop&#8221; panel icon.<\/p>\n<p>The power manager has been updated with <b>power profiles<\/b> support, meaning it now has built-in support to tune your CPU frequency as you need.<\/p>\n<p>It now also supports <b>hybrid sleep<\/b> that saves your desktop state in RAM and swap. In the case, even if the power is cut, it can still restore the previous desktop status.<\/p>\n<p>Other XFCE 4.20 changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Update &#8220;About XFCE&#8221; dialog with Distro logo, and windowing systems type (X11 or Wayland).<\/li>\n<li>Fix icons and thumbnail scaling for better HiPDI display support.<\/li>\n<li>Application finder daemon support.<\/li>\n<li>Add &#8220;Do Nothing&#8221;, &#8220;Shutdown&#8221; options for lid close action.<\/li>\n<li>Support for stretch theme variants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>There are as well tons of more changes in the release, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xfce.org\/download\/changelogs\/4.20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full changelog<\/a> for details<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>Get XFCE 4.20<\/h3>\n<p>The source tarballs of the new release is available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/www.xfce.org\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download XFCE (Source)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For normal users, it&#8217;s however recommended to wait your Linux Distribution updates.
