But installing <i>Gnome Shell<\/i> or <i>Cinnamon Desktop<\/i> also installs the GDM or MDM display manager.<\/p>\n<p>So you may first run below command in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) to make sure <b>LightDM<\/b> is in use by choosing it from the prompt:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/choose-default-display-manager.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/choose-default-display-manager.jpg\" alt=\"choose-default-display-manager\" width=\"480\" height=\"269\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/choose-default-display-manager.jpg 480w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/choose-default-display-manager-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> LightDM also supports &#8220;themes&#8221;, some DEs use <i>LightDM-GTK-greeter<\/i> instead of the default <i>Unity-Greeter<\/i> as its theme.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to restore LightDM theme is:<\/p>\n<p>Open terminal from the Dash or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard.
